Deleting your Speedo Saarthi account
You can delete your account yourself, from inside the app, without asking anyone’s permission. This page explains how, what is removed, and the few things the law requires us to keep. It applies to both apps — Speedo Saarthi, for car owners, and Speedo Saarthi Partner, for Saarthis.
How to delete it
Speedo Saarthi Partner (the Saarthi app)
- Open the app and sign in.
- Go to Settings, and under Leaving, tap Delete my account.
- Read what the screen tells you, then tap Delete my account and confirm.
Speedo Saarthi (the car owner app)
- Open the app and sign in.
- Open the menu and tap Delete my account, the last item in the list.
- Read what the screen tells you, then tap Delete my account and confirm.
What happens next
Nothing is removed on the day you ask. Your account is marked to be deleted seven days later. During those seven days you can sign in and keep it — the same screen will offer. This exists so that a tap made in frustration is not final.
A Saarthi goes offline as soon as the request is made and cannot go back online until they keep their account. No new bookings will reach you while the week is running.
One thing will stop us accepting the request: a booking that has not finished. Finish or cancel it first. Somebody is waiting on it.
What is deleted
After the seven days, we permanently remove:
- your name, mobile number and profile photo;
- for a Saarthi, every document you uploaded — Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence and the rest — both the images and the numbers;
- for a car owner, your saved home address and saved locations;
- the messages you sent in any trip chat, and the photos in them;
- the screenshots attached to any bug report you sent;
- every device registered for notifications.
This is not reversible. We cannot restore an account after the seven days have passed.
What we keep, and why
Some records cannot be deleted with your account, because they are not only about you:
- Trips that already happened, with your name removed. A trip is also the other person’s trip — their history would otherwise have a hole in it.
- Payments, invoices and GST records. Indian tax law requires us to keep these for a number of years. They stay with your name removed.
- Ratings and reviews you left. These are about the other person and form part of their record. They remain, but they are no longer attached to a name, a number or a face.
- Reports of serious incidents, where we have a safety or legal obligation to keep them.
In every one of these, what remains is a record with nobody identifiable in it.
If you cannot use the app
If you have lost the phone, cannot sign in, or have already uninstalled the app, write to care@speedosaarthi.com from any address and tell us the mobile number on the account. We will call that number to check it is you — we will not delete an account on an email alone, because anybody can send one — and then delete it the same way, with the same seven days.
